Jayson’s DJ Pick this week is “The Kitchen” by Briston Maroney! Based in Nashville, TN, Maroney has been a steadily rising name in the local music scene for the past few years. Maroney’s 2017 debut EP, Big Shot earned him a fiercely loyal fanbase that still only continues to grow. After touring across the US and the UK, Maroney found collaboration opportunities with names like Andy Hull and Dan Wilson. From this collaboration came Maroney’s most recent album, Sunflower.

Sunflower is ver representative of Maroney’s journey throughout the past decade of his life. For Maroney, the songs that comprise Sunflower take him along the long and winding path to the present. “Hopefully this record is representative of my journey,” Maroney says, “Here’s 100 percent of who I am. It feels the most connected to my heart.” Here, Maroney speaks directly of the opening track on the album, “Sinkin'”. Songwriting for Maroney is a very personal experience, as he offers, “It’s been my journal for a really long time”.

“The Kitchen” is a single from what is announced to be the deluxe version of Sunflower. This new version of the album is set to be released on April 29th. Later this year, Briston Maroney will open for Jack White on select US dates, as well as serve as direct support for fellow Nashville act Rainbow Kitten Surprise on their July tour.
