Kim Richey “Joy Rider” – Local Artist of the Week

Lightning 100 announces Kim Richey as our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week! The Nashville grown artist continues to showcase her compelling songwriting on the new single “Joy Rider”.

There is no doubt that Kim Richey has made her mark as an American Songwriter in Nashville, TN. Through her successful career, she’s achieved recognition in the music industry with her moving lyrics and soothing vocals. Thirty years later, the 10-track album Every New Beginning is her strongest effort yet. Kim offers her refreshing melodies and nostalgic songwriting that continue to grip listeners from across the world. In fact, the release has been met with high praise from AmericanaUK, WHRO, Louisville Public Media, No Depression, and more! Additionally, “Joy Rider” is co-written with the talented Aaron Lee Tasjan and offers a great mix of two songwriter’s minds.

Four tracks into Every New Beginning, “Joy Rider” takes the stage. The song evokes a feeling of comfort and warmth as she explores the childlike curiosity of a young boy who explores the world on his bike. Also, Kim expands in her newsletter that the song was based on a true story, stating “There’s this kid in my East Nashville neighborhood that likes to blast around on his mini-bike. Nothing stops him”. We can’t wait to see where she goes with her sound next.
