Local artist of the week The New Respects continue to amaze us with uplifting, powerful music. Consisting of siblings Alexis (bass), Zandy (guitar), and Darius Fitzgerald (drums), alongside their cousin Jasmine Mullen (vocals/guitar), the soulful Nashville quartet released their sophomore effort Sun Goes Down ear this year. “We Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” is the latest single off the record.
“‘We Ain’t Goin Nowhere’ is a song about where we come from and who we are,” says Jasmine Mullen. “It’s an encouragement to know who you are, own it, and show up. It’s our response to a culture that can constantly make you want to run and hide.”
