Taylor Noelle, a young pop singer-songwriter has won over the hearts and ears of Nashville, earning her a spot as one of the eighth finalists in Lightning 100’s annual Music City Mayhem. Sadly, due to the current climate, the finalists are not able to perform live at EXIT/IN. Instead, listeners will have the chance to vote for Taylor Noelle while her track spins on air August 13th.
Lightning 100 had the opportunity to video chat with Taylor Noelle, and get to know her a little bit better. She has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her father taught her how to play the piano at a young age, and she would happily sing along. At age twelve, she realized she was proficient with the piano and had the power to sing whatever she wanted, which started her songwriting career.
Taylor Noelle has found living in Nashville to be a great environment for a singer/songwriter. “There is no negative competition, and a lot of collaboration.” Taylor Noelle said. There are a lot of different people around Nashville that have their unique musical skill, and they can all come together and contribute their skills.
When it comes to songwriting, Taylor Noelle is very melody driven. She’ll start playing around on her guitar or piano, and views writing a song as “a puzzle to solve.” Some of her biggest musical influences are Fleetwood Mac and Tame Impala. She loves how they have a very unique sound, and how as soon as their song starts you know it is theirs.
Due to the quarantine circumstances, Taylor Noelle has found time to write alone more than ever before. “Corona has given me the opportunity to dive into being creative on my own. I have been more thoughtful, and learned what I actually want to focus on music wise.” Taylor Noelle said.
Since Noelle didn’t get get to perform live at EXIT/IN with the other finalists as planned, she blessed us with a never before released live session she shot a year ago! Check out her Instagram post below for all the details.
Be sure to tune in on August 13 to hear Taylor Noelle’s “Rely” on Lightning 100 at 100.1FM or lightning100.com. And make sure to vote in Music City Mayhem to help us determine the 2020 Champion!
