Stephanie’s DJ Pick this week is “Pharmacist,” the soaring new track from Alvvays. The song is brief, clocking in at just 2:04, but it uses that time wisely. It packs a punch with its dynamic lyrics and retro instrumentalism. It’s that boost of energy we all need to get us ready for the day. “Pharmacist” is a must – coffee is optional.
Alvvays launched in Toronto in 2011 and is comprised of Molly Rankin, Alec O’Hanley, Keri MacLellan, Sheridan Riley and Abbey Blackwell. “Pharmacist” is the lead single off the band’s highly-anticipated third album Blue Rev, slated for an Oct. 7 release with Polyvinyl Records.
Alvvays will hit the road this fall for shows all over the country. On Sept. 19, they’ll open for The War on Drugs at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
