Steph’s DJ Pick of the Week is “Coffee,” the newest track from Hinds!
Hinds is the passion project of Carlotta Cosias and Ana Perrote. “Coffee” marks the first new single for the band in four years. It’s truly amazing that they were able to bounce back into the industry as easily as they did. “Coffee” is a track that has skyrocketed them back into everyone’s radar.
“Coffee” marks the first single of the original duo back and better than ever. Since breaking the scene in 2014 with “Bamboo,” the Madrid powerhouses have been able to create a largely diverse discography. “Coffee” is truly no exception. Featuring the dual vocals of Cosias and Perrote and a bright melody, the alt rock undertones of the track are able to soar.
The track features production by Pete Robertson, who’s worked with The Vaccines and beabadoobee, and mixing by Cesar Edmunds. This GRAMMY award-winning engineer has worked with The Killers and Wet Leg. “Coffee” is laced with these influences. If you love the indie rock grit of Wet Leg, you’ll find Hinds to be beautifully reminiscent of their charm and unapologetic grit
Hinds notes “Coffee,” “is admitting to all the things you’re not supposed to like or doing all the things you’re not meant to.” The track is dedicated to shutting off the voice in your head and sharing your truth “with no shame.” With tour dates through March and May, the duo are starting an energetic new era.
