Casey’s DJ Pick of the Week!

Lightning Casey kicks back this week with Neil Young’s “Try,” a track from his May 2020 album release “Homegrown.” The album had a month-long setback of the release date due to COVID-19.

“Try” is a vulnerable ballad with a country twang in which Young is longing for an old lover. Young attributes his lyrics on the track to the language of his ex wife Carrie Snodgrass.

The veteran rocker has been keeping up with fans on his website. On the “Neil Young Archives Contrarian” you can access a thirty minute video of him performing a set on a farm, which he names his “Barnyard Edition.”

Young also includes articles that range from politics to the renovations of his Hearse Theater. A message reflecting Young’s feelings of the current pandemic is also featured on his website.

Tune into 100.1 FM or lightning100.com to hear Neil Young’s yearning song “Try” and let us know how you interpret his moving lyrics. Tweet at us with #L100DJPick to tell us if we should keep spinning the record.

Casey is that rarest of creatures…a Native Tennesseean. His love of music can be traced to the day his dad sat him down and played him Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” Everything pretty much changed after that. He began his broadcasting career at the age of 14 at an AM station in Northern Middle Tennessee. It was there he learned how to cue vinyl records, splice tape with razor blades, and other skills that no longer serve any purpose. In the late nineties, he was the host of our evening show until management decided that probably wasn’t a good idea anymore. Casey returned to Nashville airwaves in 2016. When he isn’t on the air, he spends his time with his wife and son. He would also appreciate it if you’d get offa his lawn.
