Adam here with my DJ pick of the week from the late Richard Swift. Multi-instrumentalist and producer, Swift worked with Foxygen, Sharon Van Etten, Damien Jurado, The Arcs and more. The impact he had on the indie music scene is incomparable which made his untimely death at 41 that much more of a tragedy.
Late last year, his posthumous record called The Hex was released. The collection of songs was created over several years and completed just before his passing. One of the LP’s standout tracks is “Broken Finger Blues.”
Swift explained the story behind the song, “A year and a half ago i broke my finger. Never got it back. This is a song I made a few days after getting the cast taken off.”
Listen to “Broken Finger Blues” below and let us know what you think!
