Our next ONErpm Hitmaker Alert is “Little Bird” by Sweettalker! Nashville-based Southern psychedelic rock band Sweettalker is cited as “energetic, riffy, and highly entertaining.” This visionary quintet is successfully resurrecting the sweet sound of 70’s rock, while simultaneously mixing it with modern alternative.
“Little Bird” is the third song on Sweettalker’s 2020 EP Paradise. This song takes the listener through a rollercoaster of influences and genres. Starting with a strong Black Keys influence, this song takes a turn into a Green Day-esque /70’s rock mixture of a chorus. At the end, the song resolves into a lap steel-filled, Southern-rock finale. The transitions from each section of the song to the next are magical. Despite the variety in the song, every section melds into the next to form a cohesive rock n roll power anthem.
However, this song is not the only song of Sweettalker’s that follows this impressive and grand theme. The entirety of the Paradise EP is a fantastic journey through all the variations of rock. “Swirling harmonies, groovy riffs, horns, and string ensembles all contribute to an EP as dynamic as the genre of rock n roll itself,” says Sweettalker describing their EP.
