Casey here with my DJ pick of the week, and this one has an interesting story. As you may or may not know, we host a weekly music meeting open to anyone who wants to pitch their music to the station. Last week, we had a group that traveled oversees to come see us!

The Common Linnets are a Dutch quartet who found European success with their single “Calm After The Storm.” Although the track is a few years old, it has never had any U.S. recognition, so I’m making it my responsibility to spread the love. Listen to “Calm After The Storm” below and let us know what you think.

Casey is that rarest of creatures…a Native Tennesseean. His love of music can be traced to the day his dad sat him down and played him Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” Everything pretty much changed after that. He began his broadcasting career at the age of 14 at an AM station in Northern Middle Tennessee. It was there he learned how to cue vinyl records, splice tape with razor blades, and other skills that no longer serve any purpose. In the late nineties, he was the host of our evening show until management decided that probably wasn’t a good idea anymore. Casey returned to Nashville airwaves in 2016. When he isn’t on the air, he spends his time with his wife and son. He would also appreciate it if you’d get offa his lawn.

  1. Great choice! Awesome band!
All are amazing musicians/artists in their own right, but together they make great music! 😃

  2. Thank you so much for introducing The Common Linnets to Nashville! This intercntinental Country Americana Band has won quite a few international awards, which were all well deserved!mThey are wildly popular in Western Europe!
In spite of their succes, their incredible talents, Ilse DeLange, Jake Etheridge, Matthew Crosby, and J.B. Meijers are quite unpretentious. They dedicate their unlimited talents to sharing their passion for Country Americana Music and their enthousiasm is contagious.

Next, Ilse DeLange, who is the driving force behind The Common Linnets, has been an advocate for Country music for over twenty years. She even initiated her very own Country music themed festival ‘Tuckerville NL’, which draws a large international audience and offers a great stage for every serious country musician!
Ilse DeLange herself is highly respected in The Netherlands and beyond!

I do hope your audience will enjoy the music of Ilse DeLange and The Common Linnets as much as their European audience does!

    Have a lovely weekend!
