Stephanie’s DJ pick of the week is “Fallout” by Yo La Tengo. The Hoboken-born rock band stays persistent with the release of their latest single. Since 1984, the band has released fifteen studio albums, with a sixteenth on the way. The album is called “This Stupid World” and will be available to purchase and stream on Feb. 10th.
“Fallout” tackles the concept of time with full force. Having been in the industry for nearly four decades, it’s fair to say the band is well aware of time. In this song, emphasis is heavy on the vitality of acceptance and rejection. The lyrics allude that in order to fully live life, we must first be aware and accept that our days are limited. Once we accept those limitations and restrictions, we can then release them, defying time and acting as if it doesn’t exist.
In December, the trio will embark on their annual eight-night Hanukkah concert series. Soon after, they will travel the US and the UK on a headline tour. The band has two back-to-back shows coming up on March 13th and 14th at The Basement East. Don’t miss them!
