Bearing Torches

Evoking hints of American soul over their Southern rock ‘n roll roots, Bearing Torches’ songs are highlighted with an anthemic and powerful spirit. Hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, the group with “family ties” calls up the energy of Bruce Springsteen, Gaslight Anthem, and Oasis in their driving sound, which at times will touch upon their lives as a working-class family, survival and reaching for big dreams (including the harsh realities of failing to achieve them). Released this year, singles “Come On” and “Summer Break” are both uptempo sing-alongs that pack a mean classic rock touch. Check out the video for “Come On” below!

Alanna Royale

10-piece Powerhouse Soul / Funk / R&B band Alanna Royale originally formed in Nashville as an experimentation with grunge music. However, their sound has evolved into big melodies, blasts of brass, percussive punch, and old-school grooves with songs that shine a light not only on frontwoman Alanna Quinn-Broadus’ larger-than-life voice but on her songwriting chops, too. A band inspired more so by Motown’s soul, Stax’s funky strut, and rock & roll’s rebellion, Alanna Royale immediately stood out in a town dominated by Americana music. Their fourth release, “So Bad You Can Taste,” touches on the low points in life but represents a creative high for the band. The record has a rare vulnerability with plenty of the soulful stomp we see in their previous records. It targets not only their audience’s dancing shoes but their heads and hearts, too. Mr Gabriel

Mr Gabriel will be shakin’ all of our tambourines this Thursday at the Basement East’s Thunderground. Since the release of his latest and greatest single, “Tambourine,” Mr Gabriel opened for two sold-out performances with Foster The People. Gabe Simon left Kopecky in 2015 where he began closely working with Foster the People drummer, Mark Pontius. The Two formed Mr Gabriel. The other notable release from 2018 is Mr Gabriel’s other single, “Millennial Falcon.” Below is the unique video for “Help Me Out” – take a look!

Elise Davis

Elise Davis brings her Arkansas twang to the Basement East this Thursday at Lightning 100’s Thunderground. Davis wrote one of her top songs, “Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” with Frank Romano and Maren Morris. Her most recent single release, “Hold Me Like A Gun,” has us excitedly speculating when she plans to release her next album. This will hopefully be a question she will answer at this Thursday at Thunderground. Be sure NOT to miss it! Watch her latest video below.
