This week’s ONErpm Hitmaker Alert is “Big City” by Bel! Bel is a singer, songwriter and producer from Clovis, California. She brings an honest and timeless quality of songwriting to the table that is hard to come by these days. Her music is a sweet concoction of indie and pop, as well as folk and country. Appropriately, she draws inspiration from timeless artists like Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell.
“Big City” is the first single from Bel’s forthcoming album, Jet Lag. This song was written while Bel was visiting some, well, big cities, including Nashville! The nostalgic tune describes what it’s like to be a young adult in this big, bad world and many of the ups and downs that come with it. Bel is applauded for her incredible vocal control, which is displayed beautifully in this song. “Big City” is Bel’s first release of 2022, following singles “mason jar” and “wannabe”, as well as her widely appreciated debut EP, Muscle Memory.
Something tells us that this is just the beginning for Bel. Her second single from Jet Lag comes out next Wednesday, March 23rd. This song is called “PBR” and will feature girlhouse. Stay tuned for that! In the meantime, you can listen to “Big City” here:
