Before playing a string of sold-out shows at Cannery Row, Colony House stopped by the Lightning 100 studio to talk about their new album “Leave What’s Lost Behind” with Adam and Jayson Friday morning.
“Leave What’s Lost Behind” is the third album from indie rockers Parke Cottrell, Scott Mills and Caleb and Will Chapman. To celebrate their new release, the band played the new record as well as their first two records in their entirety at three sold-out shows at the Cannery Row complex this past weekend.
The band spoke with Adam and Jayson about the making of their new album and how their creative approach has changed.
“It was really important before anything else the forefront was, ‘What are we communicating?’” Will Chapman said. “We want to be saying something in these songs, so we really let the music support the lyrics.”
Jayson and Adam played the title track as well as the opening track “Looking for Some Light” during the morning show, and concluded with a Rapid Fire Five segment that revealed “Sabotage” and “Schism” as their go-to songcheck songs and Mills’ love for “Shark Tank.”
