Casey’s DJ pick this week is “Caroline” by Patrick Droney. With a driving beat and honesty pouring out of every line, this track is one you need to listen to.

Patrick Droney has been turning heads with his talent for years. Droney began playing guitar when he was six. At the age of only 13, he earned the New Generation Award from the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation. After making his national recording debut at the fresh age of sixteen, he continued to hone his craft. One of thirty-eight students to be accepted into NYU’s Tisch School for the Arts: Clive Davis School of Recorded Music, he has toured with such legends as BB King and the late great James Brown. In 2021, Droney dropped his first full length album, State Of The Heart. Droney gives us a glimpse of the emotional authenticity of his upcoming album, Subtitles For Feelings, with “Caroline”.

Everyone has one that got away. “Caroline” speaks to the years that follow a parting of ways with that one unforgettable person. Patrick Droney perfectly captures the nostalgic and painful speculation of not knowing where “Caroline” is now, and if they still think about the relationship. Droney draws you in right away with his soulful guitar and heartfelt lyrics. The combo makes for an introspective exploration into love and self discovery. In regards to the writing process, he says it all started with the bridge, a perfect segue from his last album. “This track feels more connected to State of the Heart than any others on Subtitles for Feelings so I thought this would be its perfect moment as a bridge to the new era.” Stay updated on all new releases and tour dates via Droney’s website here. Check out “Caroline” on YouTube below:
