Jayson’s Pick: Good Neighbours “Walk Walk Walk”

Jayson’s pick this week is “Walk Walk Walk” by Good Neighbors. The upbeat indie pop-rock tune kicks off with an infectious synth hook. The English duo have a knack for making a feel-good anthem that resonates with the masses, proven by the success of their debut single, “Home” last year. Good Neighbors has continued this streak by creating their debut album, Blue Sky Mentality, to be chalk-full of hook driven melodies. “Walk Walk Walk” stands out among the 14 song record released on October 3rd, for its timeless message of walking with your head held high. Listen to “Walk Walk Walk”  by Good Neighbors all week long!

Dan’s Pick: Sheryl Crow “See You On The Other Side”

This week, Dan picked Sheryl Crow’s new song “See You On The Other Side” as his DJ pick of the week, following up on her being in the studio last Thursday. This song, instrumentally, brings the vibe of “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. The lyrics hold a message on the modern lack of compassion and understanding. Crow’s new releases have been portraying her message on the arising issues of artificial intelligence as well as the political climate of today. She is bring back the soul into rock and roll. Give it a listen down below and check out Lightning 100’s in-studio session on YouTube.

Stephanie’s Pick: Bon Iver “Day One” (ft. Dijon and Flock of Dimes)

This week, Stephanie’s pick is none other than Bon Iver and his song “Day One” with features from Dijon and Flock of Dimes. The vocals in this song sound ethereal with gospel elements. “Day One” is on Bon Iver’s newest album, SABLE, fABLE, released in April. This song has uplifting tones with spiritual and gospel-like sounds that make you want to stand up, put your hands in the air, and sing along. This really gives me a throwback to Chance the Rapper in 2016, with the chill elements and vibey instruments. Take a listen now! (The music video is very entertaining I highly recommend)

Casey DJ Pick: Hahn “Bluff”

Casey’s pick this week is Hahn and his song “Bluff.” This is Hahn’s most recent single, released October 17th! Hahn is actually a Belmont Alum and has lived in Nashville since 2017. His sound is something different, blending neo-psych rock, indie, alternative, soul, electronic, and others. Quoted from his social media, “I wrote this song about the most toxic and emotionally manipulative kind of relationship.” You can hear these elements in his lyrics. His experimentation with his music has taken him a long way as he carves space for himself and his music in the industry. Check out his song now!

Rev’s Pick: Madi Diaz “Fatal Optimist”

Madi Diaz, a local artist and recent guest of The Hideout Academy Studio, released her seventh studio album Fatal Optimist earlier this month. Its title track is Rev’s DJ pick this week! With a lush yet stripped back acoustic arrangement, Diaz’ voice is able to bite through the mix. Her lyrics take center stage on “Fatal Optimist” as they detail the singer’s deeply personal emotions.  “I hate being right” is the line that rings out throughout the track in a devastating lament. The track is carried through by a melodious chorus that’s sure to have you humming along. Catch “Fatal Optimist” on Lightning 100 as Rev’s DJ pick!
