Jayson: “Hold On (Hourglass)” by Devon Gilfillian

For his DJ pick of the week, Jayson selected “Hold On (Hourglass) ” by local Nashville singer-songwriter Devon Gilfillian. Devon Gilfillian is a genre defying artist who blends soul, country, and rock and roll. This specific track mixes country western sounds with vintage soul and psychedelic rock elements. It is the first single from Gilfillian’s upcoming album, set to release June 26th of this summer. The song steadily builds to a dramatic crescendo after the final chorus, complete with wailing guitars, driving bass, and soaring vocals. Dan: “Science Friction” by Aaron Lee Tasjan

This week Dan’s DJ pick is Aaron Lee Tasjan’s latest release “Science Friction.” In this cleverly worded, ornately produced, indie folk track, Tasjan reflects on current events and modern contradictions. “Science Friction” gets surreal as Tasjan wonders aloud what Christopher Columbus would have thought of modern day flat earthers and a culture where “well known facts are just argued away.” With dreamy production and an updated groovy feel this track is the perfect song to get you through the current news cycle. So, give “Science Friction” by Aaron Lee Tasjan a listen at the link below.

Stephanie: “Can I Mend It?” by Buck Meek

Stephanie’s DJ pick this week is “Can I Mend It?” the third single from Buck Meek’s latest album, The Mirror. Glitchy synths compliment Buck Meek’s superb guitar along with heartwarming backing vocals. “Can I Mend It” follows a couple as they navigate the pitfalls of an intimate relationship where each person makes mistakes and has to find a way to make it right. This track is uplifting as well as gratifying. Give “Can I Mend It” a listen at the link below. And, while you’re at it check out the rest of Buck Meek’s latest album The Mirror.

Casey: “Stormy Weather” by Vivienne Blue

For his DJ Pick this week, Casey chose “Stormy Weather” by Vivienne Blue. Local indie pop artist Vivienne Blue is full of energy and color. Through her live performances and music videos, Vivienne Blue has proven herself as an artist with vision. “Stormy Weather” is a delightfully upbeat track set on the dance floor. Its memorable hook “Maybe I was made for stormy weather” is the perfect pop metaphor for feeling comfortable on unsteady ground. Lucky for us “Stormy Weather” is just one single off of Vivienne Blue’s debut EP, Break My Heart, Not My Stride. Give “Stormy Weather” by Vivienne Blue a listen at the link below.
