Intern pick: Our Fall Classics

Well folks, we are officially one week into fall! As the leaves start to turn red and the weather begins to shift, so does our music taste. Turning away from the light and breezy hits that kept us company through the summer, and leaning towards slow, nostalgic melodies- fall sets the tone for what the rest of our year will sound like.

We’ve taken the liberty to highlight some of our favorite fall classics and make a playlist of what we’ll be listening to this season. So join us in lighting a candle, grabbing a cup of tea, and put on our new fall playlist!

Addie’s Pick:

For me, fall has always felt like a major turning point in the year, and though my work tends to pick up, the art I consume tends to slow down. From the movies I watch to the music I listen to, it feels like my psyche naturally falls into old habits and slows down the pace.

Every fall, I find myself reverting back to my high school classics: Phoebe Bridgers, Cigarettes After Sex, and The 1975 being the artists who soundtracked those years. But this year, I’ve found myself getting lost in Leonard Cohen’s The Essentials. Though I tend to stay away from compilation albums, this one has got me hooked. From Chelsea Hotel #2 to Suzzane, Cohen’s poetry and sultry voice feels like the perfect addition to this fall.

Rich’s Pick:

“Rockin’ Chair” by The Band. The Band is one of my favourite acts ever, because their songs are catchy yet so unique sounding. They formed in the late 50s in Toronto as a backing band and eventually gained prominence as Bob Dylan’s band. I became obsessed with the Band in early 2025, and this song always hit differently than the others. “Rockin’ Chair’s” accordion, raw acoustic production, and chorus harmonies have given me goosebumps multiple times. I love the song because it feels like the perfect song to listen to sitting in a rocking chair, watching the leaves fall.

Jayden’s Pick:

“I Love All the Love in You” by the Bob Crewe Generation. This is a bit of an unorthodox pick — one of three original songs from the score of the 1968 sci-fi film Barbarella. The film itself is the perfect mix of futuristic and psychedelia typical of the era, and I think “I Love All the Love in You” is the best of its three original compositions. This song definitely makes me think of the comfortable aspects of the fall season.
