Gracie’s intern pick of the week is “Soak Up the Sun” by Sheryl Crow. Released in 2002, the song is one of Crow’s most recognizable feel-good tracks and perfectly fits this week’s beach song theme. Sheryl Crow is an American singer-songwriter known for blending pop, rock, country, and folk influences into a laid-back, sunny sound. “Soak Up the Sun” has the perfect beach-day energy, with bright guitar, carefree lyrics, and a chorus that feels made for driving with the windows down or sitting by the water. I also really love Soccer Mommy’s version because it gives the song a softer, dreamier indie feel while still keeping the warmth of the original. Overall, “Soak Up the Sun” is the kind of song that instantly feels like summer.

Josh’s intern pick of the week is “The Way I Talk,” by Morgan Wallen. I always love to listen to country music at the beach because it always fits the vibe. This song in particular has a vibe that I think fits perfectly with the beach. The song was featured on his studio debut album, “If I Know Me,” and released in 2018. It is a fun song to listen to on the beach, especially around friends or family.

Since I am indecisive, have grown up in a landlocked state, and have not been to the beach in years, I have been struggling to think of the best beach song. I have been told, “it’s not that deep” to “just pick one,” but I am struggling to adhere to the structure of just one beach song. So I’m going rogue this week and making a playlist.
