Lightning 100 is excited to present Finger Foods with their song “Combo Amp” as our Local Artist of the Week.
Finger Foods is Casey’s pick for Local Artist of the Week. Finger Foods began releasing music in 2023 with their debut single “Gutter”. and first gained traction with their EP “Marcy, Marcy” back in 2024. Last Saturday, the band celebrated their debut album “Detroit” with an album release show at The Blue Room.
“Detroit” is a big leap forward sonically for the group. While the band preserves their fresh blend of indie rock, country-western, and shoegaze, Grammy Award-winning engineer Justin Francis produced this album, and the result is a larger-than-life sound.
Casey’s pick “Combo Amp” is a song that is brimming with nostalgia. The song opens with harmonica and folksy string-picking then gives way to vocals that feel like they’re being channeled directly from the 90s indie-rock scene. The first verse contains these charmingly deadpan lyrics: “…So I spent way too much money on this combo amp. It’s got a switch, turns on the chorus. Back in high school, I took chorus for way too long.”
