Joel Adam Russell is our next Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week! His song “Dice for a Dollar” is off of his latest album, God, Gold, and Glory.
Russell grew up in the Dallas area, and was always surrounded by the influences of music. The young star has shared the stage with artists like Kacey Musgraves and Maren Morris. He came to Nashville in 2015 to experience the songwriting community. Nashville’s influences can be seen in “Dice for a Dollar” and other songs in the new record.
We welcomed Russell into the Volume.com studio this past May, and enjoyed his performance of “He’s Been Calling” and “Dice for a Dollar.” Most of the songs from the album were written and produced during the pandemic. In the interview, Russell says, “[‘Dice for a Dollar’] is about me missing my local bar here in Nashville.” If you missed this performance, you can catch him at this week’s Friday Afternoon Live, and be sure to listen to “Dice for a Dollar” below!
Make sure to tune in to 100.1 FM or lightning100.com all week to hear Joel Adam Russell, our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week! And if you need a great way to beat the heat, make your way to the Skydeck at Assembly Food Hall for Friday Afternoon Live. A live broadcast begins at 5 p.m. with Russell hitting the stage at 7 p.m!
