Lightning 100 is excited to announce Moga Family Band and their song “Pretty Bird” as our Local Artist of the Week!

Moga Family Band is a Nashville-based collective blending contemporary blues, soul, jam-band improvisation, and pop-friendly hooks. With “Moga means family” at the heart of their identity, the band brings together six members: Sister Emme Cannon on vocals, Uncle Eric Fortaleza on bass, Brother Jake Baynes on guitar, Cousin Cav Mims on keys, Papa Liam Hogan on drums, and Baby Owen Fader on vocals and saxophone. Together, the group creates a sound that feels both tight and free-flowing, rooted in strong musicianship and a shared love of live performance.

“Pretty Bird,” released as a single on January 27, 2025, highlights the band’s warm, soulful sound and full-band chemistry. The track leans into bluesy grooves, rich vocals, and a relaxed energy that feels right at home in Nashville’s local music scene. It captures what makes Moga Family Band stand out, balancing polished songwriting with the loose, expressive feel of a jam band.

Moga Family Band was also featured in Lightning 100’s 2026 Music City Mayhem submissions. Their song “Pretty Bird” was played during the March 21, 2026 special three-hour edition of the615, giving listeners a chance to hear the band alongside other local artists in the competition. Their involvement in Music City Mayhem further connects them to Nashville’s independent music community and highlights their growing presence in the local scene.

Fans can catch Moga Family Band live for Lightning 100’s Nashville Sunday Night on June 7 at 3rd & Lindsley, where they will perform with High Fade as part of the Twice As Nice Tour. The show gives listeners a chance to hear the band’s energetic sound in person and experience the musicianship that defines their live performances. Get your tickets here!
