Jake Xerxes Fussell comes from a background of folklore and traditional vernacular culture. His father was a curator, folklorist, and photographer who’s work took him all around the Southeast, and Jake went with him. Along the way he studied and apprenticed with elder musicians in the Chattahoochee Valley including Precious Bryant and George Daniel. Fussell traveled around, honing his music skills, and eventually made his way to Ole Miss to enroll in Southern Studies. Last year he collaborated with William Tyler to create his debut album.
