This month, New Jersey native Dylan Hartigan released “Crazy,” an upbeat jam crafted in collaboration with some of Nashville’s finest. With guitar sounds reminiscent of late ‘80s pop and a memorably catchy chorus, the song is perfect for your summer playlists. “Crazy” is Casey’s DJ Pick of the Week!

Hartigan’s fans might expect a new single that echoes his previous indie folk releases. However, they’re in for a surprise with “Crazy” and its breezy pop sound. In a Big Hassle media release, Hartigan says the song “was so left field for me that I could barely even reach it. Something about it makes me smile and vibe, which is what I like to do with other music.”

Perhaps working with Them Vibes (who wrote the song) and Maggie Rose (who provides backing vocals) influenced Hartigan’s foray into a new sound.  Them Vibes have released music that ranges anywhere from blues to rock to funk.  Maggie Rose has experimented with sounds from country to R&B to soul.  With Bobby Holland producing (known for his work with ZZ Ward and Kesha), everyone who collaborated with Hartigan on the song pushes themselves to embrace growth and authenticity in their art. This latest collaboration further proves that Nashville is home to far more than country music.

“Crazy” is an early single preceding the October 8 release of Hartigan’s new album The Way My Bones Creak.
