Lt. Dan here with my DJ pick of the week from Hiss Golden Messenger. “I Need A Teacher” is our first preview of singer-songwriter MC Taylor’s new Hiss Golden Messenger record Terms of Surrender. The LP is due Sept. 20 on Merge Records.
Taylor wrote about the track and music video on Twitter, “I wanted to create a portrait of the people that put their lives on the line for our kids every day. I’ve watched it many times at this point, and it makes me weep every time.”
The video features real-life teachers who protested against public education budget cuts in North Carolina. Listen to the track below.
