Marquee Mayfield — Disco Queen: Local Artist of the Week

Earlier this month, Jayson spotlighted “Disco Queen” from Nashville’s own Marquee Mayfield as his DJ Pick of the Week. We loved the track’s infectious vibe so much that we just couldn’t help but spotlight the group further. Their high-energy mix of funk, R&B, and—of course—disco is hard not to love. That’s why they’re our Local Artist of the Week!

Marquee Mayfield refers both to the group as a whole and its firebrand frontman, formerly known as Andrew Glass. “I’ve always been inspired by Curtis Mayfield and I love alliterations,” says Glass on the stage name. Mayfield’s website tells another story, though, detailing an eclectic past that includes him being freed from the shackles of corporate country-pop. It’s the type of thing that exudes personality and makes the band’s unique sound make a bit more sense. But at the same time, it’s all so fun and rebellious that making sense seems like it’s missing the point.

For a sense of just what this energy looks like, look no further than Mayfield’s live performances. Check out the performance for “Disco Queen” below!

We’ll be playing “Disco Queen” throughout the week as we feature Marquee Mayfield as our Local Artist of the Week. Catch it live on-air at 100.1FM on your dial or streaming live at
