Meg Myers – Running Up That Hill

Casey here with my DJ pick of the week from alt-rocker Meg Myers. Meyers recently released a cover of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.” The track is the first preview of her forthcoming release, due this summer.

“Growing up, I was never really interested in covering other artist’s music.” says Myers. “I always wanted to write my own songs because I knew I could only sing music and lyrics that were truly authentic, from my heart (and also would have to make sense with my deep voice). Well, then I discovered Kate Bush’s ‘Running up that Hill,’ which for years has resonated with my soul like nothing ever before.”

Give it a listen below and let us know what you think!

Casey is that rarest of creatures…a Native Tennesseean. His love of music can be traced to the day his dad sat him down and played him Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” Everything pretty much changed after that. He began his broadcasting career at the age of 14 at an AM station in Northern Middle Tennessee. It was there he learned how to cue vinyl records, splice tape with razor blades, and other skills that no longer serve any purpose. In the late nineties, he was the host of our evening show until management decided that probably wasn’t a good idea anymore. Casey returned to Nashville airwaves in 2016. When he isn’t on the air, he spends his time with his wife and son. He would also appreciate it if you’d get offa his lawn.

  1. I had never heard Meg before until you introduced this track, but have been a huge Kate Bush fan for years. After listening to this excellent interpretation, I found more of her stuff on her website and YouTube. Spent the next 4-5 hours in awe as each of her videos was more compelling than the last. Now I have a new favorite artist. Her writing, arrangements and dynamic vocal delivery are stellar. Can’t wait until she comes on tour. Many thanks to you, as Lightning 100 ALWAYS bring great artists to light!!

  2. I heard this on your station the other night and though Kate Bush had remastered it. I really like this version.
