Jayson here with my DJ pick of the week from prolific garage rocker Ty Segall. “The Arms” is the latest single from his forthcoming studio record First Taste, out Aug. 12 via Drag City.
First Taste is Segall’s second release of the year following the fuzz-heavy live album Deforming Lobes and 2018’s Freedom’s Goblin, his covers LP (Fudge Sandwich) and White Fence collaboration (Joy).
Sonically, the new record takes a different turn using harmonizers and featuring instruments like mandolin, Ikoto, recorder and bouzouki. Don’t worry, we’ll still hear plenty of blistering guitars and fuzzy tones.
