Lightning 100’s annual #615Day is celebrating its 10th year by featuring Local Artist Hannah Fairlight. Fairlight has been on Music City’s radar since 2013, but she just released her first full-length album Muscle & Skin. It’s been five years since we’ve heard Fairlight’s delightfully melodramatic tunes, and we couldn’t be more excited.

“Do What You Said You Wanted To” was the first single Fairlight dropped in April to tease her fans for the album in June. The premiere of the song and music video immediately got national attention from American Songwriter. Fairlight told the magazine that the song came “very naturally and suddenly one day,” and “pretty much wrote itself.” With the rockin’ piano ballad and soaring strings it’s hard to not enjoy listening to the indie rocker’s catchy new song.

The official music video does an amazing job of capturing the playfulness of the song through Fairlight’s magnetic performance. Fairlight told the magazine that the French-maid aesthetic creates a “seductive and somewhat desperate energy.” She said that the music video is a “vignette-style emotionally charged-story focused completely on me” and we are not mad about it!

If you enjoyed this tune, make sure to check out the entire album with 12 more of Hannah Fairlight’s original tracks.

Tune in all week long to hear “Do What You Said You Wanted To” as we feature Hannah Fairlight as our Local Artist of the Week. Catch it live on-air at 100.1FM on your dial or streaming live at lightning100.com.
