Today’s DJ Pick of the Week goes to Ed Sheeran for his latest single, “Afterglow”. After taking almost an entire year hiatus from releasing music, Sheeran decided to surprise the world with this single in late December last year. He shared the song on his Instagram with the caption, “Hey guys. Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you. It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy!”
After the birth of his daughter in September, Sheeran has asked the world to respect his privacy while he took some time to be with his family. Luckily for his fans, he decided to release this sweet love song for the world to enjoy for the time being. Although it has not been confirmed, many fans speculate that the song is about the trip that Sheeran and his wife took to Antarctica.

Along with the single, Sheeran posted a performance video. This shows him playing guitar and singing the song amongst peaceful fields at dusk. This video perfectly captures the mellow and gentle love song. The simplicity of the video allows the audience to pay specific attention to the lyrics of the song with no distractions.
