This week’s ONErpm Hitmaker Alert is “No One” by Fences! The Seattle-based indie rock band formed in 2010, basing their stage name off of an August Wilson play. After releasing their debut album via MySpace, the band was discovered by Sara Quin (of popular indie duo Tegan & Sara) who produced and recorded the self-titled album Fences that same year. It wasn’t long before the group was turning heads in the industry, collaborating with the likes of Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Death Cab for Cutie, and Of Monsters and Men. Members include frontman Chris Mansfield (vocals, guitar), Benjamin Greenspan (guitar, keyboard), Lindsey Starr (bass, vocals), and Elliott Chaffee (drums).

“No One” is a groovy ode to acknowledging your shortcomings and insecurities, featuring dreamy synths and captivating electric guitar riffs. The hook line “Sometimes I feel like a no one, I know that it’s true” is something many can relate to, with Mansfield’s vocals capturing the overwhelming emotion of the feeling exceptionally. Whether you’re feeling down in the dumps or just want something to jam to, “No One” is a vibe you don’t wanna miss.
