Casey’s DJ pick of the week is “Lil Fish” by Crocodyle!
Nashville four-piece Crocodyle is an alternative rock group that’s unique sound helps to bring whimsy and optimism to their listeners. Crocodyle is composed of frontman Hux Rittman, drummer Hays Thompson, guitarist Christi Landis, and bassist Allen Keel. The group creates interesting music that leaves listeners ready to seek out their next live performance to experience the joyous tunes live.
The group’s latest single “Lil Fish” was released on February 10th, just in time for Valentine’s Day! The song uses a tongue-in-cheek approach to discussing the Nashville dating scene. Opening with the lyrics “my ex’s new boyfriend gave me a tattoo once / I wonder if they worked that out / I poked her / then he poked me / then he poked her / and Imma be honest / this is too small of a town,” Crocodyle makes their witty and humourous tone apparent from the beginning. The track uses bouncing drums, driving bass, and shredding guitar to help curate an atmosphere that makes listeners want to dance around.
The official music video features bright colors and footage that makes you feel like you’ve been transported into MTV. The video shows Rittman getting tattooed, the band fishing in a field, closeups of fish swimming, and the band holding signs declaring their Nashville dating stories, amongst other antics.
