Jayson’s DJ pick of the week is “Ain’t Worth It” by Tomar & The FCs!

Full of energy and soul, this band is coming off of a major album release in February. Being raised in Austin, Texas, Tomar Williams began playing in the local scene with his family and other local acts. A little less than a decade ago, Williams decided to branch off as a solo soul artist. He began playing gigs with The FCs, another local Austin soul band. Eventually, it led to their first production in the release of an EP. To this day, Tomar & The FCs continue to release passionate and expressive music that makes them a standout act in the Texas scene.

“Ain’t Worth It” is an electrifying track that Tomar and the squad effortlessly bring to life. Right off the bat, Tomar & The FCs lay down some spirited guitar riffs right before the rest of the band joins in. Soon after, the horn section punches through the music to deliver an even more vintage and danceable track. Tomar’s voice carries powerfully throughout the song, reminiscent of the great James Brown. The intricate bass parts fit perfectly in the pocket with the drums supplying us with a bouncy and syncopated rhythm section. This is an incredible blending of the retro soul sound embellished with a raw modern energy that keeps Tomar & The FCs in their own lane.

Be sure to check out their latest chapter in their discography by listening to the ten song album Soul Searching. The album also holds the extended version to “Ain’t Worth It” so be sure to give it some attention below!
