Lightning 100 is excited to announce Emma Ogier and her song, “Rocksteady/Heavymetal” (ft. Eden Joel) as our Local Artist of the Week!
Originally from Houston, Texas, Emma grew up in a musical family. Her father played in a band while he was in college, and her brothers are also self-taught musicians. During COVID, she began to write songs about how she felt during the pandemic. She would later write her debut single “First Base.” After deciding to pursue music, Ogier followed her brother to Nashville to continue developing as an artist, songwriter, and student at Belmont University.
With the amazing community of artists in Nashville, Ogier quickly became a more independent, mature, and grounded artist. She also started to take more risks with her songwriting. Since moving to Nashville, Emma has gone on tour with Bostaloch and started making a record.
Emma Ogier’s music combines country and indie pop to create an honest and emotional sound. She’s since followed her debut with several hits, including “First Base,” “Consider Me a Winner,” “Too Young For That,” and “Lying Lately.” These releases have turned her into one of Nashville’s up and coming independent musicians. Her newest single, “Rocksteady/Heavymetal,” featuring Eden Joel, shows how she combines emotional songwriting with catchy melodies. Released on July 10, the track explores the idea that relationships can change while still being built on love, respect, and support after a breakup.
Ogier has performed at major festivals and opened for well-known artists as she continues to build her fanbase. She will be playing at the Blue Room on July 30th. Be sure to grab your tickets here! To check out more music by Emma Ogier, visit her website, emmaogier.com.
