Cautious Clay is a 27 year-old singer, songwriter, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. Cautious Clay developed his R&B chops through remixing beats during his time at George Washington University. Since the release of his first single, “Cold War”, Cautious Clay has grown in popularity. He has had several impressive collaborations, such as “Swim Home” with John Mayer. Taylor Swift also sampled “Cold War” on her album Lover, which significantly increased the singer-songwriter’s name recognition. Cautious Clay just recently graced us with a new single, “Agreeable”, featured as Dan’s DJ Pick of the Week!

“Agreeable” is an upbeat and groovy track with a funky bass line and synth. Cautious Clay’s bouncy vocals create a vibrant sound that is especially interesting given the content matter of the song. Lyrically, the track is layered with Cautious Clay’s feelings about agreeableness in today’s society. In an interview with Paper Magazine, Cautious Clay said, “It’s poking fun at that because we’re so far removed from discussing things at this point that it’s almost like a satire.” The singer-songwriter is able to seamlessly weave a humorous tone, introspective lyrics, and bright music together in this new single.

The music video for “Agreeable” brings the lyrical satire to life in the form of ‘Lil Clay’, a mini version of the singer who argues with different versions of himself. Check out the full video below!

“Agreeable” showcases Cautious Clay’s talents as both a R&B musician and clever lyricist, bringing the ridiculousness of parts of our world into this short and sweet song.
