Our Frothy Monkey‘s local artist of the week is Jacob Perleoni with single “32”!

This multi-medium multi-genre multi-instrumentalist is as local as they come. When Jacob Perleoni isn’t making visual art, he’s writing sci-fi epics. When he isn’t doing that, he’s churning out bangers that blur the lines between retro and contemporary. During his first stint as our Local Artist of The Week just over a year ago, Perleoni was primarily making short videos from his bedroom. One Music City Mayhem later, the venue sizes have increased, the production quality has risen tenfold, and a fresh creative stride appears to have been hit. A breath of fresh steam in Nashville’s garage scene, “32” is his latest.

“It’s about a young man bonking his head!” is the extent of what the eccentric rocker offered about “32”. The track certainly feels heavy and dizzy in the same way. The Stripes influence is definitely visible, but is blurred by lyrical quirks and a distinctive lead guitar swagger. Fuzzy, acid-soaked guitars hang on substantial piano throughout, giving the chords some weight. Perleoni’s untethered solo in the back half takes absolutely no prisoners, a highlight of the track. While just over two minutes, “32” makes use of every second and packs a sweet punch.

Developing his aesthetic and tightening his brand, Jacob Perleoni is gaining his sea legs in a major way. This track was one of three put out in a single week, a feat that arrives as “a world record for musicians in Nashville playing rock music named Jacob Perleoni.” While his humor is more than apparent through his social media presence, he’s an artist to the core. Keep an eye out for live Jacob in 2025, and listen for “32” on Lightning 100!

Tune in to 100.1 FM and lightning100.com all week to hear “32” by Jacob Perleoni, our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week!
