This week’s local artist spotlight goes to Nashville’s own funk machine, The Aquaducks. The band is composed of seven members, Cavanaugh Mims on vocals, Zach Sheffler on guitar, Andrew Fleming on drums, Thomas Baxter on guitar, Aaron Veneziano on bass, Paul Violante on sax, and Elijah Hall on the trumpet. Taking inspiration from Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, and Lettuce, they create a unique sound that mixes old school funk and soul to the modern age.
The Aquaducks have been rocking Nashville for years, but finally started getting much-deserved recognition from their 2019 EP, The Deep End. Upon release, they were featured as the number two pick on All Funked Up playlist, bringing fans from all over the world to hear their high-energy soul-inspired tunes.
As of recent, The Aquaducks have released two singles that will be featured on their new 2020 EP, The Deep End. “Wanna Do (Funk With You)” sounds like a perfect mesh between George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. Mixing the best of classic funk in at a time where the genre is almost extinct. They are Continually raising the bar, and keeping the true classic funk sound alive.
The newest and spotlight single for this Local Artist of the Week is “Gotta Keep on Movin”. The most standout part of this single is lead singer, Cavanaugh Mims’s smooth vocals. His voice is unbelievable and carries the high-energy beat perfectly. Both of these new singles make you want to get up and move like it’s 1972 all over again. This electric energy can be seen as well whenever they play a live show. Seeing The Aquaducks has been described as a non-stop party from start to finish.
Be sure to keep up with The Aquaducks through Facebook for updated tour dates and lie stream previews of their new singles. We are not exactly sure when The Deep End EP will be released, but we can’t wait!
