Goldpark and Bre Kennedy is Lightning 100’s Local Artist of the Week! Goldpark is an indie rock group based in Nashville, Tennessee. The band formed in 2019, signing to a label in the early days of the pandemic. Without the ability to tour, Goldpark took to releasing a slew of original content from then onwards. Meanwhile, indie-pop singer Bre Kennedy was finding her place in the Nashville music scene. Her performances at local venues caught a lot of attention, kickstarting her professional career. Since then, she has released a sizable amount of music, including both her debut EP and studio album. Considering the proximity between these two indie artists, it’s no surprise they worked together on “Killer Queen (What I Need)”.
“Killer Queen (What I Need)” takes the best aspects of both artists, and meshes them into a cohesive mix. The instrumental features joyful melodies from the guitar and keyboard, as well as both electronic and acoustic drums. Both Bre Kennedy and Goldpark’s Wes Hunter apply their vocal skills in the mix, whether it’s solo vocals or harmonies. Overall, the song’s energy is playful and upbeat, with a hint of joyfulness.
“Killer Queen (What I Need)” is the first recorded collaboration between Goldpark and Bre Kennedy. Both Goldpark and Kennedy will be on the road this spring. Goldpark is currently on a solo tour, while Kennedy is opening for Joy Oladokun along her tour. Tickets for both of these tours are available through the links above. Otherwise, be sure to keep up with Goldpark and Bre Kennedy through their social media accounts, as well as their websites. Also, feel free to check out “Killer Queen (What I Need)” below!
