PuffHost is back with their first single of 2021, “That’s Alright.” The duo consists of Myke Wilken and Ethan Rose, who say that “the song is about living life unapologetically and vibin.” This catchy, playful single is Casey’s DJ pick of the week!
“That’s Alright” delivers a much-need encouraging message amid the struggles the world has faced since the beginning of 2020. The song is upbeat and lighthearted, grooving with the nonchalance of a carefree shrug. PuffHost co-wrote “That’s Alright” with Livy Jeanne and Evan Coffman at an Anacrusis Songs songwriting retreat in Nashville. Musically, the song features a laid-back vocal over a steady beat, supported by horns and strings that increase the song’s intensity in the chorus. The addition of sounds that resemble whistles, kazoos, and chimes make “That’s Alright” feel especially charming. The song’s lyrics depict positivity in a way that feels authentic, with its references about happiness and relaxation never feeling cliché.
PuffHost strives to bring uplifting energy to their listeners through their music. The self described “90s kids” who “struggle with their millennialism” strive to embrace their emotions and vulnerability rather than shy away from what they feel. Stylistically, HuffHost pairs their empathetic, honest songwriting with catchy hooks and hip-hop rooted beats.
