This week’s ONErpm Hitmaker is “Stuck in My Ways” by The Walters! The Walters are an indie pop band from Chicago Illinois that formed in 2014. The band gained widespread attention after the release of their debut album Songs for Dads which reached Spotify’s United States Viral Top 50. The band had a brief hiatus in 2017, but reformed in 2021 and are back to making hits. This song is the newest single in the band’s consistent string of hits starting in 2014.
“Stuck in my Ways” takes on a similar formula to the band’s previous songs. The feeling of it keeps to the signature sound of the band while also adding a west coast, summer breezy vibe to it. “Stuck in My Ways” appears to be about a man who is struggling to make a relationship work. The lyrics, “I’ve been making all these plans trying to make you understand,” show the difficulties of maintaining a one-sided relationship.
