Lightning 100 is excited to announce Ava Swan and her song “Future Tripping” as our Local Artist of the Week!
Montana-born sing-songwriter Ava Swan brought her indie pop to Nashville in 2023! Growing up around a song-writer father and a music teacher mother, Swan was destined for a career in music since birth! It’s clear she’s had a long history with music through her exciting melodies, amazing vocal control, and a clear creative vision. Her music often has a jazzy influence, but in her debut album, Sun Safari, Swan plays with a dreamier folk sound. “Future Tripping” is featured on the new album, and certainly stands out.
As the title suggests, this track is trippy. The song is hypnotic from the start with Swan’s repetitive and layered vocals. Her voice is soft, yet commanding and energetic as the song intensifies. Parts of this song feel like you’re floating around in space until the beat comes in and grabs your attention. “Future Tripping” plays with feedback and glitching guitars and creates a cosmic atmosphere for all the effects to float around in. The lyrics of this song describe relatable spirals about always living in the future. “Trippin’ in the future, Waiting for the day to come, Not even done and on to the next one.”
