Geese never intended for this to be long-term, but after the release of their debut album, the band has an exciting future ahead of them. Projector is the first project from the New York group, featuring fresh, new singles like “Low Era”. Raw talent like this is hard to come by, which is why “Low Era” is Stephanie’s DJ Pick of the Week.
Geese is made up of a group of Brooklyn-based teenagers that came together their freshman year of high school. It was just a project to write and create music, and they didn’t expect it to last after graduation. Guitarist Gus Green recounts how this new explosion with their music changed all their expectations.
“We were just graduating high school and going to different colleges so we wouldn’t be able to do things regularly. But now, hopefully this is the start of something instead of it being the end which is cool to think about.”
Geese, The Line of Best Fit
The album is full of hits, but “Low Era” is one you won’t want to miss. It fuses together psychedelic and punk rock, taking inspiration from artists like Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees. Geese has already impressed listeners, but it’s even more impressive that they’ve done this at just 18 and 19 years old. For some artists, it takes years to hone their craft, but Geese has already done it with “Low Era.”
As a companion to the song, Geese has also released their music video for “Low Era.” It’s a 70’s-meets-80’s psychedelic daydream that proves the artistry this group has to offer. While the band may not know what’s next, it’s sure to be something great if it’s anything like Projector.
