Indie rock artist, Strand of Oaks, released “Galacticana“, teasing his upcoming album. As the fear of COVID grew in 2020, Timothy Showalter wanted to give people hope. “Those were sad and scary times, and I just wanted to make it positive instead of negative,” Showalter opened up in an interview with NPR. This inspirational single is Lt. Dan‘s DJ pick of the week!
Timothy Showalter began his career under the name “Strand of Oaks” in the early ’00s. From synth-pop to classic rock, this Austin transplant by way of Indiana explores inspiration from a variety of musical genres.
“In Heaven was created with so much love and my greatest hope is that it connects with people and provides a momentary space for reflection, joy, catharsis and whatever else someone might be looking for in their life.” -Showalter
When tragedy and heart-break rocked his world, Showalter used the pain and experience to fuel his writing. The electric pulse and soft harmonies with lyrics of fear, love, loss, and hope are both ear-catching and moving. As listeners that value emotional transparency, we look forward to Strand of Oaks’ upcoming album featuring “Galacticana”. Listen to the new single below:
