Casey’s DJ pick of the week is “wander through” by Sundaes. The song is the latest single from the New-York native and current Nashville-based artist. Sundaes uniquely fuses together both an indie pop rock sound and subtle country influence. Nunes pulls most of his songwriting and sonic inspiration from classic female country singers like Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton.
The southern feminine influence prevails in “wander through” with the combination of light guitar picking and the pedal steel, both classic country assets. Delicate vocals and soft harmonies render the feeling of being “hopeful amid loneliness,” Nunes recently stated.
“wander through” is one of the first songs Nunes wrote when he started playing guitar. The song navigates lonesome thoughts and missing someone. As a queer artist, Nunes hopes his audience realizes that feelings are not gender-defined and can be related to by anyone.
