Lightning 100 is excited to announce Caroline Romano as our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week with their song “Doesn’t Matter”!
Caroline Romano is a Nashville alternative popstar in the making! Her witty and introspective lyrics showcase an honest yet hopeful perspective on what it means to be young in today’s world. Her upcoming EP “How the Good Girls Die” releases on February 21st. Make sure to catch her this week at 3rd & Lindsley where she will be opening this week’s Nashville Sunday Night with the Foxies!
“Doesn’t Matter” is a 2024 single that details the delicate tiptoeing around the truth that happens at the beginning of a new love affair. Lyrics like “I don’t wanna know who you’re talking to when you’re on the telephone / certified heartbreak whisper / “take me up the stairs” / I won’t ask you if you kissed her / it doesn’t matter” encapsulate this feeling of preferring to have something over nothing. Romano allows herself to fully succumb to the all-encompassing feelings of the romance without fully considering the long-term consequences. Somber vocals disguised under effects give the track a sad-robotic vibe that invokes the feeling of Romano trying to distance herself from the romance. There are also computer noises hidden throughout the production of the track such as mouse-clicking for listeners to pick up on.
