Courting is a British electric rock group based in Liverpool that is making waves for their combination of post punk and hyper pop. The quartet consists of Sean Thomas, Sean Murphy-O’Neill, Joshua Cope, and Connor McCann. The band has released three albums in the last three years. Each project contains different sounds and inspirations which showcase the band’s dynamic nature and avant garde sound. Their most recent album Lust for Life, Or: How to Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Sided To Tell the Story leans into classic indie Britpop with a mix of their signature experimental hyperpop.

“Pause at You” the leading single of the album is a perfect ode to indie sleaze and the nostalgic sound of the 2000s. The track features a captivating electric guitar riff and heavy bass lines that pair perfectly together. With a striking chorus like “I see you sometimes with a glass eye / You only see me with the lights down / See you around / I always see you around/ Streetwalking cheater in the nighttime” you cannot help but be drawn in. The song captures the buzz and euphoria that comes from a late night out in an electric city.
