Matt Nathanson kicks off 2025 with the release of his latest single “Impossible People” off of his upcoming album “King of (Un)Simple,” releasing on February 7th. Nathanson will be kicking off his “King of (Un)Simple” tour on February 19th and will be touring North America throughout the spring, giving fans the ability to experience the emotional lyrics Nathanson writes in person.
“Impossible People” uses folk and rock elements to set the scene for Nathanson’s lyrical storytelling to shine. In the single, Nathanson writes about a constant theme in his life is attempting to get “Impossible People” to love him. The lyrics start by painting a scene of Nathanson’s childhood with lyrics like “set little fires for attention / it was only a matter of time ’til it all burnt down” reflecting his family dynamic. The lyrics follow him to adulthood where he expresses how he thinks that love is “a card game where everyone’s bluffing.” This vulnerability and honestly has inspired fans to take to social media to share their own stories of attempting to gain the love of “Impossible People.”
