The group was formed in Louisville, Kentucky in the late nineties. Since then, the band has made a name for themselves through electric live performances and numerous critically acclaimed albums. Their sound has captured fans and critics alike for the last decade because of their classic Americana rock paired with experimental and psychedelic instrumentation.
“Squid Ink” highlights that classic My Morning Jacket sound, with a heavy guitar riff and Jim James’ heavy vocal presence. James describes the idea behind the song as about the type of person who spreads their negativity like squid ink through a room and trying to escape those dark waters.
