“Save Your Soul” by Kathleen Edwards is Rev’s DJ pick of the week!

The Americana singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards is gearing up for the debut of her new album Billionaire, with the release of her single “Save Your Soul.” Based in Ottawa, Canada, Edwards’s background in classical music as well as her experience travelling the world starting at a young age adds to her insightful and nuanced approach to songwriting. Edwards’s alternative approach to traditional folk and Americana

“Save Your Soul” dives into Edwards’s classic Americana sound while giving a perspective on the pitfalls of success through her introspective lyric writing. With lyrics such as, “You’d have come clean years ago/But the hustle gets you high,” Edwards’s reflection strikes a chord of yearning balanced with the undertones of freedom. The track, produced by Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson, provides a feeling of ease and tranquility with its twangy instrumentation alongside a steady backbeat. “Save Your Soul” is the second single released alongside “Say Goodbye, Tell No One,” that will appear on her new album Billionaire, which will be released on August 22nd.
