Rev. Keith’s DJ Pick of the Week is “The Only Way Out” by Danielle Ponder! This is Danielle’s second released single for her upcoming debut album, which is coming out this summer!
The soulful artist is committing herself to music after years of studying and practicing law as a public defender. The Rochester native continues to acknowledge the importance of music in furthering her advocacy work! In a TED Talk about about her relationship with the criminal justice system, Danielle says, “Music reminded me that all hope is not lost… music is a vehicle that shows what is within us.”
The passion Danielle shows for social justice is matched with the energy in her music. “The Only Way Out” features soulful vocals and messages about the human experience. In a statement from OrcaSound the rising singer/songwriter says, “This song captures a situation so many people have been in…ignoring red flags and entering a relationship you know will end in pain.” With intricate instrumental and vocal harmonies, “The Only Way Out” is a modern take on traditional soul and R&B sound.
